Access to the Game

Special Olympics Poly Hockey

The Detroit Red Wings, in partnership with Gallagher, have demonstrated their commitment to supporting Special Olympics Poly Hockey athletes across Michigan by hosting two special events during the season—one in Traverse City and one in Detroit. These celebrations aimed to promote inclusion and grow the game of hockey within the disabled community. In Traverse City, athletes and their caregivers were welcomed as VIP guests to watch a Red Wings training camp practice, followed by a surprise hockey skills clinic with Red Wings players. In Detroit, athletes and their supporters enjoyed a Red Wings practice at Little Caesars Arena before participating in their own skills
session on the main concourse, where players again joined in the fun. In addition to these memorable experiences, the Detroit Red Wings and Gallagher provided a donation to help Special Olympics Michigan purchase new equipment for Poly Hockey athletes statewide.

KultureCity Sensory Room

The Detroit Red Wings, in partnership with The Detroit Red Wings Foundation, are proud to announce the unveiling of a state-of-the-art sensory room in collaboration with KultureCity®. This sensory room, designed to cater to the needs of individuals with sensory processing needs, is set to revolutionize the way we experience
public spaces. The initiative is part of The Detroit Red Wings and The Detroit Red Wings Foundation’s commitment to fostering an inclusive environment for all community members, ensuring that individuals with sensory sensitivities can enjoy cultural and recreational venues without barriers. The sensory room is located on the second level, behind portal 65 and will be open for all events taking place at the Little Caesars Arena.

Learn, Play, Score

Established during the 2019-20 season as part of an initial $1 million commitment from the Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Red Wings Foundation, and NHL/NHLPA Industry Growth Fund, the Learn, Play, Score platform is breaking down systemic barriers by introducing equitable access to hockey in various forms for thousands of children across the city of Detroit.

Little Wings is designed for children ages 5-9, providing six one-hour sessions of on-ice instruction and a full set of Little Wings-branded hockey equipment for a low cost.
